Dialogue: The Fine Art of Conversation
Sixty eight illustrators were asked to contribute works based on found notes, poems and scribbles.
Each spread included the art and the paper ephemera that inspired it. Mine was inspired by a love note I received in 5th grade from 2 boys and is entitled Rick & Ron OXXOXXOX after the way they signed the note. A collection of original paintings, literary quotes, stunning visuals and inspirational points of view about the concept of heaven and hell. My spread shows Heaven drowning while on a holiday swim and Hell happily tending her garden –Heaven is in hell and Hell is in heaven. Heaven & Hell is designed by Mark Murphy.
The Cow of No Color is a book of riddle stories and justice tales from countries around the world. Each story pauses at the critical moment where the reader can ponder “what would I do in this situation”, then resumes to resolve the tale. A selection of stories contain my illustrations in B&W. The book is edited by Nina Jaffe and Steve Zeitlin. The originals of several pieces are in private collections.
Hear!Here! is a book of 64 illustrated translated sounds from around the world. Learn how to say Yum-yum, Ding-dong or Gulp in several different languages. Hear!Here! is published by Clarkson Potter/Random House.
This hard cover volume of international showcase of identity graphics has examples of my studio identy. The book documents the exhibition of the same name at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Fun fact: my initials appear on the cover below Saul Bass's fish icon. Designer's Self Image is written by Joshua Marcus.
Compositions
Compositions was a limited edition book sent out as a promotion for my studio. Using extra promotional sheet, printed details and customized rubber stamps and stickers, I created a lively mini-book in a quantity of 25. Each book was sent with a note written on old composition notebook paper. I find that customized promotions, especially well designed ones receive the best attention, and the process is enriching for me.
